Naming Rights Bell Tolls for Rangers

By Bill Miller

Major League Baseball's Texas Rangers inked a reported 30-year, $75 million naming rights agreement with Ameriquest Mortgage Company.

According to a press release from the parties, the newly-named Ameriquest Field in Arlington will feature the company's trademark, the Ameriquest Bell, in the left field terrace which will ring for various Rangers achievements. Other amenities include extensive community involvement between the parties including joint Habitat for Humanity efforts and youth ticket programs.

Contrary to some published reports, the deal actually makes the Rangers the 16th team in Major League Baseball to play at a named facility. Or, potentially the 17th, if one counts the Florida Marlins playing at Pro Player Stadium under a now-defunct arrangement.

The deal was the 11th completed for a professional sports facility in the United States or Canada already in 2004.
