P&C Name Comes Off of Syracuse Stadium

By Bill Miller

Penn Traffic, the parent company of P&C Foods was successful in securing the approval from bankruptcy court to terminate a 25-year, $3.6 million agreement the company had signed in 1996 with Onondaga County to name the then-new home of the class-AAA Syracuse SkyChiefs and A-League Syracuse Salty Dogs.

According to published reports, Penn Traffic had already paid about $1.1 million to the county.

The county announced that it will begin efforts to secure a new naming sponsor for the facility. The termination of the agreement leaves 57 teams in professional baseball playing at a named facility.
