Sprint Signs NR Agreement for New KC Arena

By Bill Miller

The efforts to build a new $250 million arena in Kansas City were given a boost when locally-based telecommunications provider Sprint agreed to a 25-year naming rights agreement for the proposed facility.

The deal is reportedly worth $2.5 million per year ($62.5 million) if an NBA or NHL team plays in the facility or $1.7 million annually ($42.5 million) if no major league team is present.

Sprint reportedly will receive signage and premium seating opportunities as part of the arrangement.

The Sprint contribution is not part of the $50 million that facility manager Anschutz Entertainment Group is committed to providing to the project.
