New Greensboro Stadium Gets NR Sponsor

By Bill Miller

The new home of the South Atlantic League's Greensboro Grasshoppers will be called First Horizon Park after the team inked a reported 10-year, $3 million naming rights agreement with the Memphis-based financial services company.

If the reported figures are accurate, the deal would be the largest publicly-reported class-A deal in terms of annual value to date.

Amenities in the package include extensive signage, season tickets and a luxury suite. In addition, the financial institution will handle loans related to the facility's construction.

First Horizon Park is scheduled to open in April 2005 with an exhibition game featuring the Florida Marlins. The deal is the 20th announced naming rights agreement for a major league or minor league professional sports facility in 2004.
